一个luminerie Alouette (hereinafter, “Alouette”), the largest aluminium smelter in the Americas and owned at a 13.33% investment rate by Marubeni Corporation (hereinafter, “Marubeni”), announced that it has been awarded the Chain of Custody (hereinafter “CoC”) certified by the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative*1 (hereinafter, “ASI”) as of September 2022.

CoC is the standard used to support traceability through responsible production, processing, and distribution by ASI. Alouette has achieved the ASI Performance Standards for sustainability in 2020 and therefore became a smelter which obtained all ASI certifications.

一个louette has been producing clean aluminum with extremely low CO2 emissions through hydroelectricity. In recent years, in addition to acquiring ASI certifications, Alouette voluntarily set a target of net zero carbon emissions by 2050 and has been actively working to promote sustainability.

Marubeni has made “Green Strategy” one of its fundamental policies to enhance its corporate value in its current Mid-Term Management Strategy GC2024, which places aluminium as essential for transitioning to a decarbonized society among its green business. Through the promotion of sustainability at Alouette, Marubeni plans to contribute to creating a sustainable society.

*1 Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI):
一个SI, located in Australia, is an organization that sets a global standard for sustainability performance and traceability through production, processing, and distribution in the aluminium industry. Marubeni was the first Japanese company to participate in ASI in 2019.
